The East Heath Traffic Calming Zone
Around 2001, following community concern about rat running, streets across a large part of Hampstead Town were included in an area-wide scheme, the “East Heath Traffic Calming Zone”, covering an area of 0.38 km².
This attracted strong community support and has remained largely unaltered over the past 20 years. It remains the only area-wide scheme employed in Hampstead and Frognal.
